Learn Greek
You speak Greek – you just don’t know it! More than 6000 Greek words are used in English. The Greek alphabet will offer you a brain challenge until you learn it and are able to read it!
Twenty-four letters to practice and double letters that give a different sound. Sounds like a brain puzzle? And don’t forget the famous phrase “It sounds Greek to me.” Learning Greek should make you feel proud of your intelligence.
Why Learn greek?
By learning Greek, you get closer to the wisdom of the ancient Greek world! Many philosophers and wise men came from Greece, such as Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle. Our Greek lessons at Pomegranate are designed for students who want to make rapid progress in their Ancient Greek language and deepen their knowledge of Greece and its culture. It offers the four skills and provides an insight into Greek culture and civilization.
Moreover, the course is accompanied by lectures and activities that illuminate the contemporary Greek culture. We provide students with an opportunity to study Greek in a supportive, yet academically challenging environment. Our teachers are highly qualified and experienced. Our standard and expectations both for staff and students are kept at a high level of excellence.
Our courses are open to all students who love the Greek language and culture, regardless of age, nationality, job, or education.
Independent level is composed of B1.1, B1.2, B1.3, B1.4, B2.1, B2.2 and B2.3 levels.
While starting your learning journey with Pomegranate you will receive a placement test which will determine your language skills and your level.
By the end of the Independent Level you will be able to:
- Converse independently on different topics (work, school, leisure, travel, technical discussions, specializations etc.)
- Can deal with situations likely to arise whilst traveling
- Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects
- Describe experience and events, dreams, feelings, ambitions etc.
- Can understand complex texts or conversations on concrete or abstract topics
- Can interact spontaneously with native speakers without strain on either party
- Give a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options
You will cover:
- Which expressions
- Expressions of a goal
- Time markers
- Expression of necessity
- Structures to express consequences
- Direct and indirect speech
- Future and past tense
- Passive and active voice
- Expression of time, duration
- Subjunctive tense
- Conditional tense
How long is the course?
- Each sub-level is of 30 hours in group, 22 hours in semi-private and 20 hours in private setting
Teaching and Learning Methods :
- Introduction of selected grammar points.
- The lessons are based on realistic conversations and task-based listening sections.
- Students develop reading fluency, accuracy, and comprehension by reading passages from a variety of sources such as newspapers, magazines, books, and websites.
- Students participate in a variety of activities during this class, including lectures, in-class exercises, weekly homework and quizzes, and group/pair work.
- Students are expected to complete weekly homework and quizzes.

- All grammar points taken during the previous levels
